Picture Inequality: Challenge to Indifference (2012-2013)

In these paintings I aim to make visible the scale and reality of inequality in sub Saharan Africa by exploring statistics on quality of life indicators from UN Human Development Reports. They focus on the lack of access to basic human rights such as water, food, shelter, education, healthcare and the huge disparity that exists globally in terms of income, life expectancy, child mortality and maternal mortality.

These paintings were exhibited in my first solo show Picture Inequality: Challenge to Indifference at the Customs House Gallery & Studios in Westport, Co Mayo in July 2013 together with some paintings from my Famine series.
